Lyra blinked her eyes twice. She had no idea where she was. She stared above her to the stars in the midnight sky, still wondering how she had arrived here. The fresh night air that she breathed in calmed her and she simply watched as the gentle breezes sway in the trees around her. Then she felt a presence beside herself in the meadow. She looked up to see an elegantly dressed figure hovering over her. She could not see his face, but something about him felt comfortable and welcoming. He held out a hand to her and she took it. He pulled her up and took her in his arms. He then began to sway with her to an unheard tune. Then as they twirled through the meadow, the music grew louder. Her simple white dress turned into a beautiful ball gown. The meadow around them transformed into a ball room adorned with elegant decor. The room filled with other couples dancing the same dance that she was. She had never known these motions yet they felt so natural. The dancers cleared a space in the center of the room where they danced together. Everything seeming right in that on moment. The couples then began to vanish, leaving behind an empty ball room with just the two of them. The walls around them faded into the floor in a shimmer of golden dust. Then it was the two of them, dancing through the meadow in the cool night air. the music started to fade and their dance started to slow. As the last notes played, he dipped her down. He lowered her to the ground and as his hand lifted from her, he disappeared.
Then she woke up.
