• Being disabled is the worse feeling you could have. People would stare at me rudely with their dark, piercing eyes. I would just shy away from them, and just draw my artworks. As they moved their fluent lips, spilling english, and my heart would just race. Would they talk about me? Glancing, I read their lips, and they said nothing about me. Relief would come flooding over me.

I couldn't speak, but sign. Signing, you ask. Sign Language is valuable thing to those that can't hear, and I would tap on my teacher of the deaf. Fluently sign to her, but without spilling the words out of my mouth. I got up and walked away from the people, far away. Where I can get peace, and calm environment. The tree twitched sightly from the breeze, and I smiled. I sat under the tree, and began reading my book. I have alway read but never out aloud. I wondered how things sounded like? Were they peaceful? Were they horrible? But that doesn't matter to me, all I want is to hear again in my ears.

The ground vibrated as a truck went by, and the sun was shining boldly. Warmth came to my skin, and made me relax right away. But then, there were boys coming out of the building, they were done with the lunch, and right away they spotted me. I stood up, worried that they might pick on me again like always. "Yo, what are you doing, stupid?" The boy mocked me as I read their lips. They just stung my heart like fire. I shook my head, and tried to say, "I am not stupid."

They just laughed at me, and one of the boys took my book away. I whined, and tried to get back. He kept dodging me, and he laughed cruelly at me. Why does this have to happen?
Tears came over flooding my eyes, and I blinked. "A crybaby, awh. How sad." The boy with my book was making intimations of me, and anger just rose inside of me. A boy, a tall one came up behind them, and ripped the book out of the mocking boy. "Just leave her alone." The tall boy told them, holding his fist close to their face, and I beamed a great smile. There he was, Mio. My best friend ever since. He could do sign language, and he talks to me mostly.

"Here you go," he signed to me, "Are you okay?"
"Yes," I answered back," I am okay, thank you for getting my book back."
"No problem," he smiled a cute smile, and I gushed,"Well, I have been wondering... Are you having problems?"
"No, not really. I should have beaten them up." I frowned.
"Violence wouldn't do you good," he spoke,"Just ask someone like an adult or me for help okay?"
I nodded, and he gave the book back to me. I held it close to my chest, and he looked ahead at the doors. People were coming in, and he held his hand out to me.
"Let's go in, Anya." He beamed, and I held his hand. We walked the way in, and we had to separate. "Bye, be careful okay?" Mio signed his farewell, and went to his classes. I walked away to my class, to enter my hell again.
The day was slow and boring. It was plain until tonight....

"I want a cochlear implant," I exclaimed at the dinner table,"To hear."
My mom just stopped chewing, and my dad was staring at me in shock. My big brother was frowning so was my big sister.
"Really?," my mom asked me,"Are you sure?"
"Yes! I need it," I replied back," so I could hear!"
"Your dad and I will talk about it..." My mom said frowning in worried expression.
Then that night, I haven't heard a peep from them, oh I mean I haven't seen a peep from them.
Will I get the cochlear implant or not?

    To Be Continued.
