• Madly In Love

The ball room was a flurry with an assortment of sounds and activities. From the dinning table corks of campaign bottles popped and where sent wizzing through the air followed closely by the chuckle of drunks awaiting their glass to be re-filled. From the dance floor the sounds of heals and expensive dress shoes clattered along the floor as a flurry of woman dressed in the best attire their unknowing husbands bountiful wallets could pay for. From the pool hall the sounds of billiard balls clattered against the lavishly decorated pool tables, and off in the distance the grunts of business men squandering their hard earned money in a game of poker. This was no doubt a gathering not to be missed by any of the high class members of society who had time to cut loose for the night. Through out the party only smiles adorned the faces of the party go-ers that is all except for one.

Neatly tucked away from all the hustle and bustle of the get together sat a woman. Content their in her little table off in her solemn little corner, she sat... still as a statue. A glass of whine loosely gripped in one hand as her other lay folded neatly in her lap. Her face bared no expression, not not happy nor sad just simply their. Her black cocktail decorated her, crisp and ready for the party that lay near but she would not reward it. its almost unknown how she arrived at all, it almost seems as though she just materialized in that position on that very seat.

Just then a man approached the table. He pulled out a chair and sat down next to her, she gave no reaction. He took her hand " Jen... its time that you began to perk up just a little.... isn't it?, what happened was horrible it effected us all, but... its been a year since the accident... he wouldn't want you like this...," He said in some attempt to comfort her. She again gave no reaction, he might as well have been a pane of glass. He sat their next to her with still some faint hope that she might respond to him. He hung his head low for a moment and fiddled with his thumbs. He retrieved from his pocket a hanker-chief surrounding an object., he opned her hand and rest it gently in her palm, he cuffed her hand and looked at her still expressionless face "you left this at the funeral Jen... i thought you might want it...," as he said his last words his pushed in his chair and dissipated into the crowd.

Her hand unfolded the package not causing any disrption to the rest of her body. A weddng ring fell and dinged across the table rolling next to a stop against the wine glass. Her hand began to tighten, a tear emerged slowly gliding along her cheek dripping down into a sea of red wine. Her hand continued to tighten until it was red to the point of bursting. Her teeth grit her breathing became lod enough to here as did the gritting of her teeth. A drop of blood squeezed out of her hand. At that moment a hand rest on her shoulder. "hey now, that's not gonna help any thing now is it my little Jen-jen?," as the words left his mouth they seemed to have effected her, she only allowed one man to call her by that name and that voice seemed to unravel all of her sorrow. Her hand released as did her teeth, the tears began too double, her mouth opened but no word emerged. He took her hand and slowly lifted her from her seat. He held her in his arms as if she where the only woman in existence. She looked up at him her mouth still opened as she mustered the strength to let out a single word "Al.... Alan?,".

    New Bit Added
He held her closer, "yea babe.... its me...," he said looking down at her smiling. She took in a breath to say something else but to no avail. He let out a small chuckle, leaning down to lay the softest possible kiss on her lips. She kissed him back holding back her disbelief for a moment. She released her lips from his and buried her face in his chest, the tears began to poor again, as she gasped and panted trying her hardest to maintain her composure long enough to squeeze out a sentence. "Do.... don't leave me again... please... do...do..n't leave me.. I'll do any thing... plea..," she was interrupted by two fingers rested lightly on her lips. "Hey now... Jen im not going any where... Im going to be here for you... to the very end... don't you worry your pretty little head..," he said with the same comforting soothing voice she had been without for so long. The party around them began to fade into darkness. the smoke of cigars, the dancers, the tables, the expensive decorations, all of it began to fade away until all that was left was the couple in a passionate embrace.

They stared at her from the window of the heavy duty bolted door of her padded room. She lay their dressed in a strait jacked rocking slowly back and forth in the fetal position, staring obsessively at a ring on the floor uttering one word over and over "Alan....Alan...Alan....,". At that moment an intern and his mentor stopped at the door of her padded little room and peered into her window. The intern stared at her amazed at the mental state she was in. "whats up with this one doc ?," he asked, his vision still transfixed on Jenifer.

The mentor withdrew a Jenifer's chart from a slot on the door, scribbling some thing in it it before she turned to answer the intern "Her husband was in a car accident some months ago, she was asked to come to the corner's office to identify the body, shes been like this ever since. Her family has tried every thing and this seems to be the last option, she shows no signs of recovery so all we can do is make her feel some what comfortable, but as long as the family pays for her stay its no skin off our bones," she said in a cold blunt voice. The intern cracked a smile and a chuckle slowly emerged "I guess love really can drive ya made eh doc ?,". They went on to the next room shaking their heads in a light laugh, but Jenifer remained their in her little room. And she will stay there for the rest of her days, but never alone; always with her beloved Alan...
