• -Mina POV-

People, clad in armor, slosh through the muck covering the dirty path. It is raining today, as it has been for the past couple of days. It was always night, it seemed like. The summer was leaving which meant they could finally wear their armor as comfortably as it would get. They wouldn't have to worry about sticky sweat as much. Now all they had to figure out was winter. Winter. The humans would freeze. The weres would have the advantage with their great furs. The vampires would have an even better advantage, for it will be darker and they feel neither heat nor cold. The unbeating heart that lies in their chest shows us that.

Mina strode along with the end of the human clan. She was very recognizable with her striking, black hair. Most of the others in this army were dirty blonds or brown haired. There was one red headed boy, but she was the only fair skinned black headed girl. A sigh emitted from her as she stepped up to the field of battle. This war had been going on for a few months. It started in the hot season of summer and is now trudging into the colder season of autumn.

The front line dropped down, then followed the second, and so on. Mina fell to her stomach, her dark green eyes staring into the damp, brown grass. She knew this strategy. Her group had been going over it and over it. It was a sneak attack. This area was heavily grassed. Even in the dying stage, it kept them hidden well. A pack of wolves stood not too far from the meadow-area. Mina knew what to do. She had a short sword at her side, cleansed of blood and ready. She would take this blade and thrust it into the heart of her opponent.

And if I fail? Mina kept repeating in her mind. If I fail... I will be shunned, killed, or taken back to be impregnated for our damn future soldiers. She crawled on her knees now, almost running into a young male. She knew him - his name was Robert and he was only 15. Robert shouldn't be here, I shouldn't be here, Maria shouldn't be here, none of us should be here!

Now a battle cry could be heard from the head of the attack. Everyone shot out of the grass like bullets and onto the playing field. Many of them were taken out at first go - the pawns in this horrible game of chess. She stood there for a moment, wondering where to go until she noticed a smaller wolf. The smaller ones, she knew, were younger. She was less likely to be killed and more likely to kill. Mina was very opposed to this war, but she had to take her orders.

The wolf loped across the field, unready for the attack. Mina pounced on it's back, driving it into the mud. There was a struggle and a fall. A crack of bone and a spill of blood. The wolf, already being wounded, lay under Mina. It was a female wolf. Was. A female wolf. Mina looked up quickly as the wolf changed back to girl, motionless at once.

All at once a young, attractive boy met her eyes. He had smoky, white skin and deep circles around his eyes. No hair but the mop that was on his head. It was deep brown and didn't match his liquid, red eyes or the tint of his skin. Vampire, Mina thought at once, Is that all I can recognize these people as? These things?
