• The slight tapping of ball room shoes tapped on the marble floors echoed in her ears as she walked up onto the balcony.
She slowly raised her dazzled mask with red streams and crystal lining. Two men nodded and slowly opened the doors.
She sped up her pace and walked into a dark room, with the two men following a few yards behind. As she walked into the middle of the large marble room a spot light hit her directly. With the mask still over her face she gave a reaction of shock and turned east to the ball room.
Another light shined on two large chairs with a Man on the left wearing a large cloak and a mask that had the word "Hell" engraved in the mask numerous times.
On the right sat a broad woman overloaded with priceless gems and jewelry. A large Ball gown covered her skin and a powered wig to hide her true hair color.
She stared more at the woman than the man to notice that drawn-on tears streamed down her mask.
"Let the ball begin" Shouted the Man. Lights flowed into the room, she spun around to see many people smiling unintentionally for no reason. All with masks, gowns and tuxedos.
She started to walk forward to the powder room. A young man tapped her on her shoulder.
"Dear Lady, May I have this dance?" She turned around to see this boy with no mask on. Not smiling and a black tuxedo on with blood stains.
"No." she said directly and kept on walking in a faster pace this time. Everyone stopped and watched the woman rushing to the powder room. The boy smiled this time and the blood went away. Now everyone started to walk very slowly to the powder room.
As she entered the room she noticed just a rusted old sink with pen writings saying "Run away..." She put down her mask and started to apply her lipstick.
"Is anyone in there?..." said a low pitched voice. she smeared her lipstick and picked up her mask over her face. "Yes. Please do not enter." She said hesitantly. "Ok...I understand..." said a more deeper voice. The door opened to reviled no light outside. She slowly crept over to close the door still with her mask on. When she reached out to close the door a mans arm grabbed hers. "What?!" she shrieked. She moved backwards but as she did the man moved in. "Don't be scared, please." It was the boy who has asked her to dance. "What do you want? Your in a ladies powder room." She snapped. "I understand that." he hissed.
a few moments of staring into each other eyes broke the conversation.
"May I have this dance?" He whispered. Classical music streamed into the crack of the door.
"If you dance with me I will let you leave this party." He said in a very harsh voice. "yes. Whatever I can do."
He stepped forward and grinned, she twitched back a little and just froze. "Theres only one way out..." he whispered in her ear. She started to breath hard and she closed her eyes. He grabbed her hand and swung her to the ground. Tears started to roll down her face. 'This is no place to hide. A Ball is not a hide away." He screamed. He took off her mask to reveail a woman with a burned face and bones showing.
A Masquerade is not where you can hide what you've done.
