"UGH!" I complained while Toni and I were walking along the sidewalk.
"What's wrong? All we have to do is.. Find something that is possibly invisible. And its uptown.." explained Toni, sounding a bit apolagetic she got us into this mess.
"Well... Uh... Just.. Just follow me." I started picking up my pace, jogging now. I didn't even realize it. Toni jogged behind me, catching up faster and faster. I made a quick stop and flipped around to face Toni. "What?!"
"I'm sorry, Toni. But, we never really thought about this. How are we supposed to find it, when we can't even see it??" I asked, feeling very thoughtless.
"Maybe, this will help?" responded Toni holding out the toy wring from SpiderWick. Toni tossed the wring to me. And clumbsy me, of course, dropped it.
"That's a toy, Toni."
"Yeah! I know. But might as well try. We never actually thought we would ever encounter a ghost. But we did. So this might work to!"
I picked up the wring and held it to my eye. I didnt think it would work, but.. it did! I saw things you could never imagine. I saw pixies, and fairies, and many things you could never ever actually see.
"Uh.. I.. Its.. Hm... Wow!... I..." I tried to spit it out, but i just couldnt.
"I knew it would work!" replied Toni, sounding braggy.
After a couple of minutes, once i finally got over the fact that magical creatures existed, we started jogging again. I suggested we jog all the way to the highest poin of our little town. But Toni had a different opinion. She said we LOOK up high. That we should go to the highest building. Or fly a plane. I didnt know what to choose cause she hasnt been wrong yet. I WAS having a great time. The wring DID work. If she was right, it wouldve been her 3rd time.
I went with Toni's plan. But there was one small problem... I was scared of hieghts. I knew this would be the day i toughened up a bit. But i didnt know if i was ready. Toni suggested we start out small, and I agreed.
"How about your rooftop?" Suggested Toni.
"Uh. Eh. Hm.. Sure?" I finally spat out. We climbed a ladder that leads to my roof, and my knees started shaking.
"You don't have to do this. I could go alone." Said Toni sounding easy and calm.
"I want to. We're in this together." I sputtered.
Once we were on the roof i took out the wring and handed it to Toni. "Here. YOu take it. I might get so nervous I'll drop it. So you look around." I whispered.
"Sure," she accepted my request and put the wring to her eye. "Hmm," She sighed. "Nothing up here,"
Our next destination was Toni's house. But unfortunatly, the same result. I was begginning to feel doubtfull after 7 more destinations. Toni's last suggestion made me shudder to the bones.
We rented a HELICOPTER for Toni's wish. Unfortunatly, Toni was VERY VERY good at soaring throught the sky in a rented helicopter.
"Ya sure you want to come?" Toni asked, sounding sorry for me.
"Y-Y-Ye-Yes!" It felt so hard to spit out that pesky word! The second the helicopter flew off ground, I took my bucket and did my stuff.
"Can you please take the wring and look for me? It's kinda hard when im flying this helicopter." Toni asked me.
"Y-Y-Ye-Yes. Sure. Why not?" Again it was hard. But I took the wring and looked around everywhere. "Uh. TONI! Watch out! There's a.. A.. A THING THAT FLYS!" I shrieked hoping nothing would happen. I closed my eyes for about 5 seconds than peeked over to Toni. But she was'nt there! "TONI! TONI! TONI!" I screamed, hypervenalating.
"Help! Help! Im on the side of the helicopter. I dont know... Ugh! I dont know how i got here.!" Toni sounded very very scared.
I peeked over her side, and she was there. I saw her. Crying with fear. No one was controlling the helicopter. I nearly passed out, but i stayed strong.
"Al? Al? My- My hand! It-Its slipping! Help! PLease Toni!" Toni cryed out
I shuddered with fear and finally stuck half my body out of the helicopter. I shoved my hand over to Toni's hand and felt the soft long hand grab onto mine. I tried to pull her up with all my strength. It took a lot of effort. I pulled harder and harder, i could feel the sweat coming out of me, on every direction. Tears started swelling up in my eyes. I flung them off and pulled her up!
I couldnt believe that i did that. Toni and I started crying more. But they were tears of joy. We squeezed each other for a long while, than the helicopter started tilting! Toni pushed me away and ran to control the loud helicopter. i sat down next to her and pulled out the wring. I looked everywhere. On all the clouds. I saw something hanging. I felt my heart skip a beat. Could it be? The hanging mystery of the uptown ghost?
"I- I see it! Toni! Go a bit left." I felt the helicopter skip left. "A little more,"
Than i stuck my hand out and grabbed it! "WE HAVE IT! WE HAVE THE THINGY!" I giggled.
"Oh. My. Gosh. No way! AAAAH!" Toni screached out with joy.
We ran back to the stall and Coraline had a wide smile spreading across her little face.
