It was just like any other Friday night, same time same place, same people. But it ended so differently, and it began the story of my life. My name is Jessica Caitlyn Snow, I was 14, and on the night of August 16th, 2008, I was out and about on the board walk by Laguna Beach. My friends all were in their mom’s cars, heading home, I was walking.
You see I was cocky, back then; Fierce, headstrong, and sure of myself. I ignored all the stories of kidnappings and murders of girls my age. I didn’t ever think I would get raped or stolen or killed. But sure enough as I was walking, two guys, one looking around seventeen, the other around 26, caught up with me, and began to talk.
“Heeeey, how are you doing?” guy 1 asks.
“You want to come to a party with us?” guy 2 asks.
“Yeah sure, how about I go get ready and meet you guys here in oh, how about—Never. Leave me alone.” I said, and then I sped up, walking quickly towards my house. But they didn’t stop there. They ran and caught up to me really quick.
“Oh, come on, you’ll be safe with us. We won’t let no one hurt ya.” Said guy number two, the 26-ish year old.
“Yeah, calm down, nothings gonna happen.” Guy 1 said, bumping into me, making me stumble two the left, towards a tell tale ally, where the ‘party’ was sure to happen.
“Ok, 1: Don’t touch me. 2: My mom is right over there and if she see’s you a** holes she’s gonna call the cops. So knock it the ef off!” I growled at them, but they just kept bumping into me, pushing me closer and closer into that dark ally. They didn’t even blink at my bluff.
My hand raced to my pocket, I pulled out my phone and ran backwards, the instantly gave chase.
People in California are very stupid, as they watched me get chased by two weirdo’s they just thought it was my brother and father or something, playing and innocent game of tag. And so I was cornered in an ally, a car, held up by traffic, blocking my exit. I dialed 911, hoping for cops, ambulance, what ever. I didn’t care. But guy 1 caught up and slapped it away before I could even hit talk.
“Hey! That was new!” I yelled at him, my heart beating faster and faster, doubling with every step they took. I knew this was maybe the last time I would see the beach, or the board walk I loved.
I took one more step and stopped, knowing it was no use, the car behind me wouldn’t move and the men in front of me were determined. So I waited, my eyes on the seventeen year old, his eyes were on mine, they were dark blue, covered slightly by his medium long hair.
I wasn’t about to lose to some pretty boy.
They grabbed my arms, I kicked and thrashed.
“Let go! Let go of me!” I yelled. “HEL--” I tried to scream, but the 26-is year old man snaked his greasy hand around my mouth. 17 year old ran off behind me, leaving 26-ish guy to plug my nose and cover my mouth. I, not knowing any better, used up all my air by trying to scream. That, looking back, was a very bad idea. Soon I felt faint, and the car that was blocking my escape was the car that I was pushed into, as soon as my head hit the other side of the car, I passed out.
Passing out, fainting, whatever you want to call it, is a very queer state. Your head hurts and its like your asleep, but your not dreaming. Your not really even thinking, your just floating, seeing nothing, feeling nothing, no taste, smell, or touch.
You just float, not really even knowing your floating.
When my eyes opened for the first time, all I saw was red, I thought it was blood, so I instantly closed my eyes and wondered what kind of s**t must have happened. Then I felt rough hands on my shoulders, pulling me up and away from the leather seat I was in. Some one was carrying me princess style to somewhere I couldn’t see. I opened my eyes again, seeing nothing but red. I raised my hand to my eye and tried to touch what was there, but some one grabbed my hand.
“Told you she was up. Hey chick, you can walk now.” Some one said.
“Dude, leave her be, you friggin passed her out for three hours, She probably doesn’t even know that we drove anywhere.” Someone else said.
The bandanna was ripped from my eyes, and the bright light that followed it made me groan. I twitched my head to try and hide my eyes from it. I raised my hand to shield my eyes, and someone caught it. I peeked open my eyes, and saw the glare of a flashlight. I stiffened as I looked around, my eyes darting. But the glare of the flashlight made everything seem like a silhouette.
I struggled a bit, but the arms around me tightened.
“See? She’s awake, she can walk.” Said the voice who had talked first. It must be the 26-ish year old. That voice was deep, uncaring, and rough. The man holding me let go and I fell to the floor, some one kicked me. “Get up.” They grunted. When I didn’t they kicked me again.
That time I did get up, slowly, facing them. I had no clue where I was, or what I was doing here… Or why they had chosen me. I couldn’t even speak, but I could see them now. 26-ish dude was watching me with obvious lust, and other horrible feelings. And the 17 year old had a small smirk on his face. They both took a step forward, and I took two back.
Which caused me to trip right into the hole they were putting me in. The laughed at me and slammed the door shut. Before I could tell where I was, or what I was in, it went pitch black. I was alone.
Completely and utterly alone.
