~Selphie
Once apon a time, a beautiful maiden lived in a cabin, but every one who saw her, instanly loved her. She had waist-length ebony hair, skin as pale as the clouds on a sunny day, and eyes that you could get lost in. Since every one loved her, she was always in the center of attention.
After her mother died from illness, her father became a drunk. No one saw her any more and all of her things, including; all of her pretty dresses, all of her jewelry and even the things that her mother had given her. Her father would beat her and make her do every thing around the house. He cut her hair to be has short as a boys, but just a bit longer. Every one would snicker, laugh, whisper and throw things at her when ever she would walk down the street. She would cry her self to sleep every night after her father would give her her nightly beating. She would cry out her mother's name and wish for the angels to just end this pain and to take her away from her personal hell.
One day while she was hiding from her father, she was in the woods near a lake. Her best and only friend came up behind her and she screamed. He clamped her mouth shut with his hand and said, "Do you want us to get caught?" Hearing his voice she relaxed only a little bit. She shook her head. "Good, because I bought you something from the market. Come with me, Selenia." I took his hand and followed him. I just now noticed the big box in his arms. he laughed softly and i smiled. I didn't think he knew i liked him, but I never wanted to tell him, in case he rejects me. He took me farther in the woods and then when he knew no one would find us, (we were in our secret hiding place from when we were kids.) He sat the box down and told me to close my eyes. I did as he told and I was smiling. He opened the box and told me to open my eyes. I did and I gapsed. The most beautiful dress I've ever saw laid in the box. I reached out but I stopped my self. "This must have costed a fortune, Kevin. Will never be able to wear it or pay you back." He laughed and said, "My mother made it and sold it to me for a very small price and plus it's your birthday present." My eyes opened up wide and I thought to my self, 'I completely forgot! How can I forget my own birthday?' I came out of my trance and tears welled up and over my eyes. I reached out and grabbed the dress. I held it up to my self. I smiled when he appualled when I was finished twirling around. I asked him, "Can you turn around so that I can try it on? and I love it Kevin, thank you." He turned around and I heard him laugh. I hurriedly changed and put the dress that i was wearing before on a tree limb. I ran my fingers through me hair and told him to turn back around. I said, "Don't you dare laugh!" His face fell and he said, "How can I laugh at the most beautiful thing that I have seen in my life?" I blushed and looked down. I didn't have any good shoes to go with the beautiful dress, but it was a good thing that you couldn't see my shoes. I smiled. I twirled around and when I was about in mid-swing, Kevin cut in and we were dancing. I laughed when he started to make a bad impression of music. I stopped short when I saw aomething that i didn't want to see. My father with a shotgun and I could smell the whiskey on him. He looked furious. I gasped when he saw what I was wearing. Kevin was still staring at me, but when I pointed in front of me, he turned around and in a second stepped ing front me as if he could protect me. My father snarled and lunged for me. I backed away as if on instinct. Since Kevin was in front of me, my father would have setteled for hm if I didn't throw a large stone at his head. He looked startled, but when he saw the direction of which the rock was thrown, he jumped up and walked to me. i just stood there, waiting for what was about to come. I wasn't scared, but i was scared for Kevin. He laid motionless on the ground from where my father and beat him for trying to protect me. My father said, "Where did yo get that dress? You stole it, didn't you? You stole it, didn't you, you worthless brat!" he grabbed my hair and started to drag me back to the cabin. It didn't hurt. I was actually smilng besides the point thatmy head felt like it was on fire and that blood was dripping from my face. I saw Kevin move and try to get up, but he fell back down. I was litterially being dragged o the ground. i wasn't moving my legs. I heard him approuch the cabin's door and he opened it. Once he was inside he dragged me to my room. He threw me inside and left me alone. He locked, bolted and boarded up my room. The dress was ruined. I felt tears roll down my face and land on my hands. My head was still bleeding, but I didn't feel anything. I felt numb. I walked to my bed and lifted up the mattress. i found the knife that laid there. I grabbed it in my left hand and went to the far side of my room. I slid down the wall and jsut stared at he only thing left of my mother. A faded, ripped and a horrible drawn picture of my mother while she was pregnate with me. I smiled and whispered to my self, "Mother, I will be with you soon. I love you and I thank you for giving me life." I put the knife to my wwrist and made a deep slash. I flt nothing. I liked the way the blood ran down my arm. I made three other cuts on my arm and then another four on my left. i felt nothing. But I heard with the last moments of my life, Kevin in my house yelling at my father. I heard glass break and then silence. I then heard footsteps coming my way. i head the jingle of the doorknob, but it was faint. I heard some one kick the door in, but that was even dimmer. I heard Kevin Cry out in pain. He must have seen me. He came to me and held me until I could no longer hear, see, or feel anything around me.
~Kevin
I felt her body go cold, but i just sat there crying. I saw the knife on the floor where she dropped it. i picked it up and said to my self, "Selphie, i love you and I will be with you soon. I hope you are waiting for me and I hope you can hear me right now." I held the knife to my throat and made a long slice right in the middle. I slumped over, still breathing, but growing fainter and fainter. I felt the blood gush out with every beat of my hear that too, was growing fainter and fainter and fainter until it just stopped. I was with Selphie at last ans she seemed truely happy now.
