• Again that face filled my thoughts. It wasn’t hers though and for that I thanked him, if only silently in my head. With all of the darkness that he brought me he spared me that pain. The pain of seeing her death mask stained with the tears she shed for me. No, it was another. It was a face that I had grown up with, a face that I had grown to love. A face that always seemed as perfect as stone, no emotion staining it’s shameless features. A face that brought me more pain then hers did.
The heat of the flames that licked off my skin almost sent me into ecstasy. It was something that I had loved even then, something I had I thrived for. The sounds that it made made my skin crawl. It crackled and snapped like a deform cascade of water crashing down onto rotting wood. But it wasn’t wood that snapped and fell to dust beneath my feet, it was a set of bones. The bones of the one who I had longed to destroy since as far back as I could remember. But of course I was never allowed to actually do anything like that because he said I couldn’t. God said he didn’t deserve it. It was sickening that that little creature could favour such a cretin like Michael. A barbaric creation that should have been considered a accident. But no, God had made that spirit of fire a arch angel. It was beyond my grasp. With all of the pain that he had caused, the light that he had extinguished in this world and the next, how could God protect him? He didn’t deserve the power he had been given. So, with that thought, I took it away from him and I took away everything else that these plebs didn’t deserve. Innocent people they were called, or at least that was what he had always told me.
His feet hit the puddles that surrounded me and the sound sent shivers down my spine. Oh dear lord how I loved that ******** sound. It was like the last note of a symphony you waited hundred of years just to hear. A glorious sound that brought tears to my eyes. The colour that stained perfect white porcelain, the scent that killed the sweet air around me, everything about the crimson goo that slowly took their lives away made my heart beat faster. It looked beautiful on him too. The way it sprayed acrossed his face as my blade sliced through that creature. He was gorgeous really. But he had always been that way, even when I was young. His eyes though, they were the things that caught me that day. They were what sent me into that fury.
    “Stop it.”
    “Stop what?”
    “Looking at me like that.”
    “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Like that! With pity in your eyes like you feel bad for me. I murdered him, I killed your beloved Michael right before you eyes, hate me! Scream at me! Show me anger burn in your eyes!”
But he wouldn’t stop. It only got worse. Those eyes, those beautiful midnight teal eyes that reminded me of the sea at night. Those eyes that almost seemed to be taunting me with silent understanding. Those eyes that never judged me, not even now when I was caked with the blood of the hundreds that he called ‘innocent’. How could he not hate me?
    “You’re being rash-”
“Rash? Rash? That’s all you have to say to me? I’m being rash?”
“That was all he told me to say.”
“All he told you to say eh? Is he really all mighty and powerful as he claims to be?”
“This is about her isn’t it?”
I could feel a painful smile come acrossed my lips at what he said and pushed a bloody hand through my silver locks. The smell of iron filled my nose and I laughed. It looked like it hurt him just to hear it. I was hurting him. I was hurting him…hurting him. Did I care? I knelt down and rand my hand through hair that once was blue and smiled again.
“Rami didn’t do anything that deserved what she got. She was a good kid. If she wasn’t do you think I would have kept her alive so long?”
“It’s not your job to judge them.”
“No, it’s not, just to destroy them yes? To extinguish their souls of all light and send them to suffer in valleys of fire. I still remember what you told me you know. ‘God created you to right the wrongs he announces and deliver upon their souls the agonizing shadows of hell. Do not fall into the temptation of the damned. Do not disobey his words for they are law. Do not judge others until his voice sounds.’”
He was silent for a long while, his eyes focusing and unfocusing, lost in the strands of blue. Blue blue, oh how it used to be blue. His hair was blue, bluer then the sky itself. How could something filled with so much fire be so blue.
“If I had known that you would be so upset by those words I would have spared you the lecture, but it was all true. God created the Malakim for that soul purpose. Your choir is useless really if you look at it, a job that any creature could do if they had the strength to lift a sword, but God didn’t want to darken the outlooks of the lesser. It was Ariel’s idea, to create all of you-
    “Stop it.”
“I told her it would be a bad idea, that when you create something for destruction that their souls will be in turmoil. To create someone just for that would be cruel.
    “Gabriel…”
“Are you crying Talik? Because if it hurts that badly then I’ll be kind and just kill you.”
