• Ezio Everbloom

Two roads diverged in a wood and I - I took the one less travelled by, And that has made all the difference.-Robert Frost.

That quote, affects me greatly. If only I had listened to my best friend as we walked through the woods. He would always say take the road more traveled. And I had always listened, or at least until that fateful night.

Waking up to the sound of screams at midnight is not pleasant. Walking slowly down my stairs, I heard my mom screaming. Why was she so loud? Maybe a night terror? My mother had frequent night terrors. She would awake and scream for a few minutes, before she would be able to calm herself down.

"Mom? You okay?" I called out to her. She was silent now. I pushed her bedroom door open, and looked into the darkness. Where was she? "Mom, where are you?" I whispered. I hated the dark, to be percise I actually hate what is in the dark. You could never tell what was lurking in the shadows. I thought I heard my mom, but what I heard changed my life.

The thud came from the bathroom across the hall. My intuition told me to run, to get the hell out of my house, but my body was frozen with fear. I stood there for at least a minute before all hell broke loose. All I heard was a gunshot and my dog yelp. My dog was dead. I knew it.

"Come out, Come out wherever you are...Ezio" said the voice lurking in my house. It seemed to echo throughout the foundation. I moved silently, into the kitchen. The kitchen had a back door, and I had to leave the house.
"Ezio, where are you going?" Who the hell was talking? I yanked the door open, and bolted out into the woods. I knew my way around well. The man followed me out of my house. He was hunting me! The clearing which led to the pond was ahead, I could swim to the other side.
By the time my body hit the cold winter water, I was surging with adrenaline. It only took me a minute to swim to the other side. Now I was faced with the decision. Left or right? More traveled or less traveled? This decision changed life as I knew it.
I took the path less traveled. It had no road, or trail, just lot's of trees and plants. This was one of my worst choices ever! The man was right behind me, as I jumped over fallen trees and stray roots. I saw the opening that led to the road, when I tripped. It was over the man had one. He grabbed my leg as I kicked at him. I felt something sharp go into my back, my vision blured as I felt myself being picked up. It seconds I was in darkness. I awoke in an iron cage. That was when the rubber band, holding my life together, snapped.

That happened a year ago. Now I know what the scientists have done to me, before I was oblivious to the obvious. What they did to me was painful, but worth it. They altered my DNA. I now have real wings. They are less bird-like, and more angelic. My speed is faster than a humans. And I can manipulate the light around me. My skin went from fair, to porcelain colored. My codename, "Angel" Now whenever I break loose, those scientists are ********. A group of ''friends'' and I are going to bust out of the facility. The scientists have no idea of our devious plan.

"Hope you ready?" I asked my friend Hope. He was my only real friend in the facility. He had short blonde hair, and green eyes even I would die for, and I am a dude! He is a bit shorter than I am, but only by a few inches. Hope was 13, three years younger than me. How he was altered was completly different. His body looked normal, but his mind wasn't. Hope has healing, and defensive powers. How had this been done? With many painful injections into Hope's brain.

Why were they altering humans? So they could watch them fight in arenas. Sick bastards. Hope hardly ever fought in the arena, he was the healer for after the battles. I on the other hand, fought many battles in the arena. And I won every single fight. Through blood and sweat, I became strong.

"Yeah, you ready, Ezio?" He asked with a smile. He knew we were going to initiate the escape.

We had rounded up many people who wanted to escape as much as I did, and told them to meet us in the lunch room.

Once all of the participants were with me, I was positive this would work. With the flick of the wrist, the scientists were dropping like flies. That is, until they brought out the heavy weapons. The heavy weapons, were altered humans that sided with the scientists. They were killing my "team." Hope and I were the only two able bodies left. How were we going to survive? When we were about to submit, my prayers were answered. An explosion gave us the upper hand. We moved quickly, to the exit. The light was almost blinding, I hadn't seen it in a year.

"Hope, we have to get out of here. And fast!"

"I know, Ezio, stop treating me like a child!" he said giving me the stink eye.

"Fine, let's go!" I said pushing him in front of me.

We had a good mile on the facility, when we saw it. The city, it's sparkling lights were mesmerizing. I looked over to see Hope, his jaw dropped.
"Hope, are you ready for a new life?" I asked him looking back to the city.

"I don't know are you?" He knew what my answer was, that is why he answered my question with another question.

The city was beautiful, it had so many people. And all of them stared at me. I looked like an angelic hobo. Some of the civilians were scared of me, others stood their gawking at my beauty.
My skin was caked with dirt. How was I supposed to get clean, when everyone just stood there and sared of me?

"Ezio, look!" Hope said pointing to a group of scientists emerging from the woods.

"Well, crap! Run Hope, I will find you later!" I yelled as I sprinted to the scienstists.

The scientists all had a shock baton. Those things hurt like hell. It sent electric shocks to the weakest part of yor body, causing you to become disoriented.

"Heh, y'all can't do crap to me" I said as I moved higher in the air. I was a few feet above them, this gave me the upper-hand. Moving quickly I grabbed a scientist, and dropped him, causing him to break his legs. Three left... I thought to myself.
"You scientists took me from my home, and now you will pay!" I yelled to the scientists below me. Now was a good time to use my "gift", I pulled light from the sun, and made it condense. This would destroy them for sure. The light shot out around me, burning the scientists, I think I even saw one scientist combusted. Now it was time for me to find Hope.

    Hope Heart

I hoped Ezio could get away from those scientists. They were brutal. My heart was beating, it felt like it was going to pop out of my chest. What was a safe place? I had been in the facility for so long, I think I had forgotten. Maybe that police station? No, they would side with the scientists! I walked quickly to a place that looked abandoned. You know, one of those scary looking houses.

"It is clean..." I said to myself as I walked into the house. The house was actually homey. It was fully furnished, but it could use a tad bit of dusting. Where was Ezio? He would've been here by now. Maybe he was lost in the city, or worse, maybe the scientists caught him! I was worried, I was no fighter. He was the fighter, I was the healer. Maybe I could send him a message, telepathically? Ezio, I am in an abandoned house, you can't miss it! It is actually a manor. If you get this please think back. I sat in a old chair, in what seemed to be a family room. If he didn't "send" back, I was most definitely screwed.

I am on my way now, Hope. Don't worry I am fine. That message he sent, took one of the many weights off of my shoulders. What city were we even in? The people spoke english, so we had to still be in the USA.
As I pondered upon what city this was, Ezio walked through the door. He was covered in snow. It was snowing?

"Hey, I told you I was on my way" he said shaking his head.

"Yeah, I should,ve known you would come back" I said smiling. He was the brother I never had. Ezio watched over me, protected me, and cared for me. We could not be separated.

"Ok, so maybe we could stay here for a few nights? At least until I figure out what we are going to do..." he said looking around the manor. I had been exploring the house before he came, so I knew where the rooms were. They looked clean.

"Hey, Hope! We are in New York City!" he said. He knew I had always wanted to visit the city. I never got the chance though. Maybe he would let me explore later?

I was tired and worn out, all I wanted was sleep. Ezio and I pulled out a blanket we found, it smelled clean. Maybe this was a vacation house? We rolled the blanket onto the floor, and made a make-shift bed. The night was here, and I was ready for the next day.

I could hear the birds chirping outside, as I awoke from my slumber. I could hear Ezio taking a shower. I needed one too. I got up and looked in the fridge, it was fully stocked! it was filled with all kids of food. I grabbed the case of eggs, and found a pan. I loved eggs, and I was starving. In a couple of minutes, I had made a whole meal. It consisted of scrambled eggs with cheese, crispy bacon, sausage links, and best of all pancakes with syrup. Just as I had finished setting out the two plates on the table Ezio walked into the kitchen.

"Yummies" he said pulling his chair out and sitting at the table.

"Well, I hope you are hungry. I made quite a bit of food." The food at the science facility tasted like cardboard. It was bland, tasteless, and boring. We never got fed correct proportions.
I made Ezio his plate, and handed it to him. He began to chow it down.
