• tab He wasn’t always that way. Once a proud, lone assassin, he was taken from Earth to assist those living beneath human eyes. From peace he was captured by fire—and fire became his existence. This is his story, from the depths of the Earth’s fiery core.

    --

Molten lava spewed from under him as he strode around his fiery dwelling. The heat was immense and enveloping. And his abode has no method of escape from such high temperatures.
tab “I will allow you freedom of this torture.” The voice lingered in the cavernous volcano. “What is your wish?” The man turned to the direction of the voice but did not answer. “Ah…is your wish such? You long to be rid of this place, no? I’ll help you…only if you help me.” He faced it once more. “Are you interested?” The man only stared intently at the direction in which the voice came. “Silence is but the answer for any mighty fallen warrior I see…very well. From this place of suffering you are henceforth permitted to escape the boundaries of the Earth’s core.” With that command, the man leaped upward and burrowed through the lava-laden walls of his prison. The voice instructed him of his mission above ground. “As a servant of Fire, you will relive your duties as an assassin once more. Are you ready—to face the inhumanities of a new world?” As he climbed and dug at the rock blocking his path to his destination, the man nodded. Soon, he felt his lungs burning. The flames surrounded him, like a fiery shell, shielding him from the debris caused by his ascent. It was then, when the eclipse really was, did he finally break free from his underground prison. “Finally,” he seethed, “I have returned.”

tab He pulled himself up from the ground, which burned at the touch of his ashen skin. The place… Scrutinizing his surroundings with the little light of the night’s eclipse, he saw where he was. He knelt on the dirt. Cemetaries are of sacred ground…and I have unknowingly sifted the dirt of this resting place. He bowed his head. “Forgive me,” he whispered humbly. In respect to the dead, he allowed a moment of silence—then he continued on his way to the first of his mission, leaving behind his presence in the form of burning footprints.
