• It seemed as if the night would never end. For hours I had sat on my bed, hugging myself to try to block out the sounds from outside. He was out there. He always was. He wanted me to go with him, since when I was a child.
We had been friends, years before, but then he had changed and he was gone. Without a word, he vanished into the darkness that swallowed him up with no regret. But he had gone, and I could scarcely remember his face. All that I remembered were his eyes. His eyes, so beautiful, they were. Deep pools of dark brown, filled with promises and caring.
Or so I thought. And now years later he was back, just appearing in the night as if he had never gone.
Eliana,” he whispered my name as if he was right beside me. But the sun was rising, he couldn’t come. Even making myself a prisoner had done nothing to deter him. He was still always there. Waiting, watching.
His pale face loomed in my window, and I knew that he would come for me. Tonight would be the start of never ending nights, just for us. I slowly stood, my dark black gown hugging close to me as I approached him. His eyes were still holding promises, maybe promises that he could keep.
I stretched out my fingers, and he grasped my hand.
Eliana, we have eternity,” he whispered as he held me close, taking me out of my warm and safe house. “Run with me,” he said, and I did so.

The Journey of Light was over. Our Reign of Darkness had begun.
