• The moon burned my skin like fire. I was blinded by my tears. I couldn't breath. I stumbled further into my backyard until I reached the woods. A root tripped me and I fell against a gnarled tree. A ringing noise stung my eardrums. I trapped my screams inside my thoart, I taster blood in my mouth.
    Was I dying?
    A unfamiliar noise escaped my lips. I was whimpering. I curled up in a ball only to have a strong force pull my arms from around my knees
    "Teresa! Teresa!? Where are you?"
    The porch light illuminated the tree. Mami stepped out the house and made her way towards the woods.
    "Teri, are you......" Mami froze in front of the old tree. A black form was struggling to stand up. It's brown eyes shown nothing but pain. But in the dark, the only thing mi mami saw was a wild animal.
    "Shoo! Vaya! Vaya!" She made a gesture in her hand.
