• I screamed his name over and over. Nothing else existed, it was just me and my father's body. I heard the heart monitor's last few beeps before it fell flat. He was gone. I could hear my heart thumping at a thousand miles and hour as the tears streamed down my face. My only father was now gone. The nurses pulled me back as I tried grabbing him. I was acting irrationally. The full shock of what had just happened hadn't settled in yet. As I was pulled into another room, I saw his mangled legs. The world suddenly got dizzy. The nurses placed me in a cot and everything went black.
I woke up about an hour later to see my best friend, Lila, and a bunch of lawyers. The all talked at once and I was easily confused. I ended being pushed into a black car as people in suits tried explaining what exactly was happening. We arrived at my house and I saw my nanny, Julie. She spoke to the people as I sat in my room.
I was alone now. I didn't have any parents. Where would I go? Would Julie take care of me? Would I move in with Lila? I didn't know the answers to any of these questions and I slowly fell asleep.
I awoke to Julie sweetly shaking me awake.
"There's something you need to know." She said. She didn't sound worried, sad, or happy. I couldn't read her at all.
"What is it?" I confusedly asked.
"You parent's money, it's yours now. You were put up for adoption and I immediately adopted you. I didn't know if I should, but I thought it would be definitely better than foster care. That way, you can still live here, at your home."
