• Don snapped her head to the back of the room as her three companions suddenly went on edge. “I didn’t know there were wolves around here.”
“There aren’t. They don’t like coming near this place because of how many people and the Proctor and guards.” More howls echoed and the air became thick with fear. “Raya! Relic! Go out and set up a perimeter.” The twins silently rushed out the door and others followed to help. “Don, get ready and be extremely careful. What we are about to fight are things you’ve never seen before and they are dangerous. Stay close to me or one of the other two, we’ll protect you. Follow me.” Aye, aye captain. They headed outside and climbed onto the roof; scouting out advantage points and searching for their enemies.
“What are these things? Everyone’s on edge.”
“Woocs.” Woocs? That sounds lame, but must be very dangerous. I’ve never seen Zane this worked up. “They look like a cross between wolves and orcs. They have a wolf head, claws and tail, but have the strength and body of an orc. And they’re very cruel, so no matter what Don’t Get Caught. Here they come.” Don looked out to see ugly, creepy creatures rushing towards the town. The battle began between players and creatures. It wasn’t until this battle that Don awakened her powers.
She was fighting a Wooc when she was separated from her friends and was completely isolated. She cried out for her friends but no answer came. She fought endlessly and was rapidly growing tired. Suddenly she felt a sharp pain hit her stomach and she was thrown backwards. She flipped once before slamming into the damp, hard ground. She panted as she shakily sat up only to look up into blood thirsty silver eyes. NOO I don’t want to die! I gotta help Zane and I want to go home. I don’t want to die here, I don’t want to die alone! Without think her hand shot out and grasped the creature’s throat. Then everything froze, the battles around the pair stopped and stared as Don and the Wooc locked eyes. The blue of Don’s eyes eclipsed everything and the creatures freewill evaporated into total submission; he was now 100% her’s. As Don fell back the Wooc turned and started attacking its kinsmen. The last thing Don remembered was someone calling her name before nothingness overtook her.
Don felt a presence next to her as the fuzziness disappeared. My head hurts. She stirred and Zane greeted her. “You’re finally up. Are you okay?” she muttered a “yes” before opening her eyes. “What happened?”
“I-I don’t really know. I remember feeling scared and not wanting to be alone. Then the next thing I know I made him my slave thing. How I knew that was I had a feeling that no matter what I told him to do he would…what happened to him?”
“He was killed. I think we finally found your gift. Your greatest fear is dying alone correct?” I guess, I am afraid of that. “and your soul’s defense against that is to create a companion that will do anything to stay with you and keep you safe. But I’m only guessing I’ve never seen anything like this; you’re defiantly an odd creature. Everything about you makes you stand out.”
“Maybe this, but not everything. At home I was as invisible as air; I didn’t exist. No one probably even noticed that I passed out until security raised the alarm.”
“I find that hard to believe.” Mhm, I’m nothing special. I’m the definition of wallflower. “Don’t believe me? There was a reason Raya put me in charge of you. Relic saw the way everyone stared at you. You stand out more than you know. With your short hair that is as black as any void. It’s like a black hole that steals every color. Then your neon blue eyes. They are alive, truly alive in their own way. Now you have a unique power, it’s a good thing you have such a great bodyguard.” This made Don laugh so hard she got dizzy. Zane smiled before saying, “You’ve been out for four days, but don’t worry I finished the missions so we’re still on task. We have two more missions to do before the final, so rest up I’m going to need you for that.”
