• I sat in my favourite place on the cliffs edge, overlooking the sea, watching the sun set.
My mother used to bring me here often as a child. She used to tell me all about the wonders of life and how my dreams can come true as long as I try hard enough.
I remember watching my first sunset here. The crimson ball of fire, seemingly falling into the sea and turning the sky to dark. It was that ball of fire: the colour, the radiance, which sparked something inside of me. My desire to be an artist.

After a while I started to head down the path, down the hill and towards home. It was on this cobbled path where I met my best friend, Chitosé.
Chitosé shares the same dream as I do, to become an artist, but how we started was completely different. Where I wanted to be one after seeing the sunset, she was being forced by her father. Sometimes I wonder if being an artist really is her dream.

Home to me was a small apartment on the outskirts of town. Not the best living conditions i'll admit, but more than enough to 'tide me over'.
Looking at the clock I realized that I should soon head to bed, I had an early start tomorrow.

    ...

"...WHY DO YOU NEVER LEARN!" "I've been teaching you for 6 years and you still make simple mistakes!"
"Father I’m sorry, it won't happen again..."
"NOT GOOD ENOUGH!" *Thwack* "You will never be like your mother."

    ...

    Ugh. That dream again.
After turning over and looking at my clock I decided to have an early breakfast. Sitting at the table I thought about what happened 2 years ago. The sound of Chitosé being shouted at and hit by her father, then walking in to find him towering over her while she lay on the floor helplessly crying. For a 14yr old, I felt very out of place.
Since then I never really wanted to go back, but her father is my teacher and I wanted to get better.

Upon leaving the house, I saw a girl wearing a black dress to match her long, dark hair. She was wearing a fancy looking hat to shield her from the sun. It almost looked as though a UFO had landed on her head and was taking control of her brain. Chuckling to myself I removed the girls hat and patted her on the head before before placing it back walking away.
After a short while, the girl was now beside me.
    "Good morning, Souji-kun."
    "Mhmmmn good morning, UFO-san."
It was at this point the girl started to giggle. "Is that how you're suppose to talk to your best friend?"
"Sorry, my best friend is a girl, not a UFO."
"I'm not a UFO!!" Seemingly angered the girl kicks me in the shin.
"Ow! Ok, ok. Good morning, UFO-sa....."
    *Growls*
    ".....Chitosé."
