• One could still make out the shillouettes of a young couple dancing away under the dim moonlight. Prom was over for more than an hour ago, but the couple still refused to leave each other and go their own ways. In between the chaotic after-scene of a garden-themed prom, they glide. The melancholic melody of crickets and nocturnal birds harmonized to accompany their footsteps. They swayed together as the boy planted his lips firmly upon the girl’s forehead. His arms are around her waist. Never letting her go.

Marissa Hayes was sweet, petite girl of eighteen, with dark auburn hair and pale freckles upon her face. She was a popular senior student with an infectious bubbly personality. Moreover, the fact that Marissa is a very gifted gifted arts and literature student makes her one of the lucky students whom the teachers always doted upon.

Meanwhile, the boy in the name of James Larsen is a charismatic young man with dark chocolate skin and an charming smile. His easygoing attitude and involvement in numerous school activities has made him become virtually everyone’s best friend in Westbrooke High. His Native American herritage was evident in his dark doe eyes that exudes trust and great wisdom for his age –a feature that always leaves Marissa smitten on any day. As a young couple, together James and Marissa has been aspiring on embarking magnificent adventures , fulfilling great ambitions, and dreaming to light up the
    world wherever they go.

This was the inevitable night that the couple has dreaded upon, yet excited about at the same time. This marks the end of their life as they knew it, but the start of a new chapter in their empty unwritten pages. Having to go into completely different ways, both Marissa and James were not eager to leave each other. Tonight, as they swayed in the empty garden, Marissa lifted her blue eyes to gaze upon James’, brimming with tears.

“Promise me,” she said with a nervous titter “ That we will stay together for as long as destiny shall let us. We will live our dream together –you as a musician, and me as a dancer. We could change the world!” she said with a beaming smile.

“That was cheesy.” James chuckled. He tucked her loose auburn hair behind her ears. “But I’d love to.”

Studying the girl before him carefully, James tried to preserve a detailed mental image of Marissa at this very moment. Although she was quite small for her age, there’s something about Marissa that breathes an air of maturity. Her curly auburn hair was in a loose updo by then, and her porcelain smooth fingers was caressing his face in admiration

The sky was saturated with starlights who gleamed like diamonds. James held Marissa’s hands as he guided her to sit by the grass to admire the great painting nature has to offer.

“Someday, love, we will shine.” Declared James as he stared upon the sky. He then altered his gaze into Marissa’s eyes who were as radiant, if not more than the myriad of stars twinkling in the dark dome sky.

“Someday,” he uttered softly, “someday, we will...”
