• This story begins in the very heart of the woods of Hamaru, where the wind is calm, there is a scent of blossoms blowing and the sound of water lapping on the rocks. Further and deeper in these woods lies a cave behind a waterfall, no-one can see it very well unless they know it's there or someone shows them the way, like say it's a hide out, a secret place, a refuge. Once you get past a few willow trees blowing calm and relaxing in the wind, you find damp mossy covered rocks, and a long curtain of dark green vines, like dark green emerald ropes, hangs loosely on the rim of the cave's open mouth. This hidden cave belongs to a family, an undead family of Vampires.

When people watch scary movies about vampires, they always see thst vampire skin is all cold and pale, but this family of vampires have a 15 year old daughter named Sadako, she's different to her parents. Her parents have pale skin, but she has inherited blue skin and personality traits from a distant ancestor. Legend has it that the blue skinned vampires are mostly known to the ordinary vampires as the Diabolical Clan, because they believed that they were possessed by a strange being sent by the devil himself. Some of the blue skin vampires were ruthless killers, but others preferred peace insted of fghting in a never ending battle, a battle which kept going for years. Unfortunately the DiabolicalClan lost and were banished from their home. Since that time, the blue vampires, inclueding the peaceful ones, were treated with suspicion. Some even went to the world of humans, but that was a bad idea because so many of these humans were doing and saying dishonourable things to them, that this caused the blue vampires to kill the humans.

Sadako feels different to her parents. She knows they are shunned by some of their own family and by most of the other vampires, and although they live in a cave she loves the peace of the countryside and the changing seasons. Sadako sometimes dreams of the future and how she might live, and wonders if things will ever change. Some of her dreams are strange, and she has a recurring dream...

It is a fine day and Sadako looks in the mirror, she sees herself as a child living in the city. She remembers her parents trying to tell her why they have to move, but she is a child and can't understand. The house they live in is in a group built together down a busy, noisy in an old part of the city, and many family members live together, sharing jobs and helping each other. She hears her mother crying and her father shouting at a man she has never seen before, a stranger wearing dark, mysterious clothing. Her father shouts:
"This is an outrage! Who says this should happen? No-one has ever had to be sent away before! Where do you want us to go? How shall we live?"
The stranger replies, quietly and severely:
"It is because of your daughter and what can happen to the families of the Diabolical Clan. You know as well as I do, and I must look after the rest of our people."

Sadako always felt confused when she woke up from these dreams. She half remembered a place she used to live in the city, she half rememebered that she once had a family of cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents. Where were they now, if they had ever been? Who was that strange man? What was the Diabolical Clan?
