• Ashton looked around her surroundings, admiring the beauty of the swaying cherry blossom trees, soft, mushy grass covered in fresh, fallen, rain and even the tall, decorative street-lights that lit up the dark, stormy night. She then gripped her lilac-colored umbrella tightly, holding it in place over her lowered head as she walked slowly, her pale green eyes glued to the grass. It was a beautiful night, perhaps not to someone like me or you, but to someone like Ashton you just had to have the correct mindset to enjoy such weather.

Barely anyone crowded the streets surrounding Ashton, except perhaps, a few schoolchildren whose parents had allowed them to suit up in their yellow raincoats and play in the heavy rain, or seniors in highschool driving their way to some night-time party.

Being practically alone like this-it was so thrilling to Ashton. If you wanted to, you could just stop, put down your umbrella and let the Earth douse you in rain. You could almost stop breathing, just, freeze time and listen to the sound of nature. It was so quiet and peaceful...it was...it was perfect. And that was exactly what Ashton did, she stopped her stroll back to her overly-crowded, rickety, overly-expensive apartment, sat down on the soaking wet grass and set her umbrella down.

She flipped her baby-blue raincoat's hood off of her head, hiked the sleeves up her arms, and pulled her long, wavy ginger hair out. She then lied down, and stared in wonder at the starry, night sky. She lifted a thin, pale, freckled arm up and attempted to count the stars in the sky...but there were too many. She couldn't. She threw her arm down harshly, and continued to stare in awe.

This moment was so truly amazing to Ashton, that she didn't care how freezing she was. She didn't even care if she died by hypothermia or simply by being struck by lightening. She'd always been lonely anyway, but she couldn't help that. Her anxiety levels were extremely strong...for she had always been made fun of in her high school years, heck, the moment she graduated she decided against going to college. She thought she would be made fun of there too. She even thought everyone else would hate her. How annoying is anxiety, she'd often ask herself.

But this was a beautiful night, not a time to let her mind wander off into such negative thoughts. Enjoying such simple things, for Ashton, you see, was an escape from anxiety and constant struggle. So what did she do?

She stared at the sky, until the storm stopped. Luckily, there hadn't been any lightning, it was only a rainy night with occasional thunder, so she managed to survive. Feeling satisfied with having stayed so long already, she leapt to her feet, dusted off her raincoat, bent down to pick up her umbrella and close it, then walked off to her apartment.

Once she reached her apartment and getting to her bedroom, she lied down on her bed, rolled over and fell into a deep sleep, dreaming of a life where she had no anxiety, friends, and even more chances to stop and admire the stormy nights.
