Bio- Nobunaga Oda is the young admiral of the Owari Fleet and the main protagonist of The Fool's Horizon. He is looked at by some as a prodigy due to his rise to the rank of admiral at such a young age, but many look at him as the Great Fool of the East due to his eccentricity, lack of discipline in his position, and his stated desire to bring peace to the warring nations. Nobunaga was once prince and heir to the nation of Owari, but his disinterest in ruling caused him to shirk his responsibilities and set the stage for greedy consuls to use his younger brother, Nobuyuki, as a scapegoat to claim power for themselves. After the sudden death of Nobunaga's father, a coup d'etat was held, supposedly under the orders of Nobuyuki, and Nobunaga took action to stop it, but was instead tricked into unintentionally killing his brother, who was innocent. The consuls manipulated events into making it seem like Nobunaga took advantage of the chaos to assassinate Nobuyuki, and thus he was put on trial, but was saved from the death penalty by his sister Oichi who became the new puppet ruler so that Nobunaga may live. Nobunaga was instead bannished into exile as an ordinary officer in the Owari Fleet, but he quickly rose in rank to become the fleet admiral instead. The events of his past convinced him to prevent the future from being consumed by the same chaos he had experienced, and thus his ambition to bring peace was born. He is noted as having a peculiar interest in experimenting and trying new things, but he is also known to have a gifted mind for strategy and warfare, unmatched by anyone else in the military. His desire for peace sometimes forces him into making painful decisions, but he retains an idealistic "foolish" mindset of achieving his dream with as little bloodshed as possible.
