i should have tried
harder
when they took me away
as if wishing was currency
and i a dollar short
and that has made all the difference
and as a fish with lungs
i drowned fast
unable to bring myself above the surface
as all the others broke free
i floundered
what seperates us
whales from cows
eagles from chickens
who am i
to not break the waves
and breathe
