Indego Slambert, The Paladin Grief
The Paladin of Grief was the second of Indigo's lives, a tortured soul who had nothing to lose and carried a burden of sadness on her shoulders. She is but a drifter, a watcher and a walker who walks the thin lines between worlds and dimensions. This life shared a close bond with the young soldier, Lyude.
The paladin Indigo emerged from Mayfil where the wolfknight Vivian first entered. Claiming to have seen sights that would have chilled one's soul, she had changed her name back to the original one bestowed upon her by Lavitz, and claimed to all Endiness that Vivian was dead. She returned to Bale to fight in Lavitz's name, and soon became quite a valued recruit in King Albert's army.
Despite the fact that nobody considered her Sandoran any longer, she still carried the sadness of when they had. The burden of being the last living wolfknight also resided with her, making her sadness stronger. She became cold, almost dead herself from living in Mayfil for so long and being influenced by its harsh conditions. She never smiled and rarely spoke, but when she did, her voice was icy and bitter. Perhaps what caused her to turn this way was the grief she had acquired in her own heart upon hearing about Lavitz's untimely death and his brief revival in Mayfil, and the story of how she had seen him again in that ghastly place. Nobody knew for sure.
After serving Albert for many years, she became known as the Amethyst of Serdio, a rare gem amongst knights. The title of Paladin Grief came later, when she returned to Mayfil to find her beloved pet hawk, Esprida. Many knights sought her out to fight for Serdio again, but none returned. She returned to Bale again at Albert's request and stayed for a few years more. People learned to fear her and the gaunt bird she kept at her side. One who had braved Mayfil twice was not to be taken lightly
One day, she just disappeared without a trace. Some say she opened a rift in the worlds, others say she was a ghost to begin with. Ther have even been claims, that she died. She walked away from Endiness one day and awoke in a completely different continent, where the earth was destroyed and people lived in the sky.
It was in this world that she acquired her wings of the heart. White wings to symbolize purity, yet tinged with blood red to show the blood she had shed in her numerous battles. She was a person of war, and had tasted battle too often to ever forget it. But whilst one wing was full and pure, the other was shreaded and torn, showing the destruction in her life that had torn her soul.
She traveled the continents, discarding her usual chain mail and armor to take up a more humble guise. Under the guise of a wandering pyromancer she met Lyude on her travels one day, and decided not to leave his side. He understood battles and wars as well as she did, and she was grateful for the company. It was what she had wanted all along, and what nobody in Endiness could ever have given her.
As for the art: Ugh, its terrible. I could have done it better, but I didn't outline it like I should have. But then again, this was drawn before I had my marvellous inking pen. I know she wears very skimpy clothing. Being a pyromancer does that to you. You get really hot, so have to wear less.
