A revised version of the character debuted in 2006, which told the story of Katherine Kane, the step-daughter of billionaire weapons heiress Catherine Kane. Using her step-mother's wealth to fund her 'project', Kate decided to take up the role as the vigilante Batwoman, after taking inspiration from Batman when he rescued her from a mugger.
