• The woman watched Jacob's pale blue eyes and his smile on his tan face.
    Jacob held out his hand to her and she hesitated to grab it.
    He moved his hand a bit, showing her that he was getting irretated slowly.
    She took his hand and he helped her up to her feet.
    "You don't have to be afraid. That part is over."
    Her voice just kind of took the better of her, "Afraid? I don't have to be afraid anymore! I'm standing here with some sort of freak and..."
    She could tell by the look on his face he was hurt a little by her harsh insults.
    "Sorry." She apologized, realized how rude she had been to him, after all, he did save her butt.
    "It's fine, sorry about kissing you by the way. I thought a girl like you wouldn't mind though."
    The woman rolled her eyes quickly and stared at him, "Are you going to kill me or not?" She asked.
    "Come on Baby.." He reached forward to grab her, but she backed up quickly and caught a bunch of cheek with the swing of her hand.
    "Ouch." He said, rubbing his cheek.
    "Don't call me Baby. I hardly even know you. For all I know, you could have a girlfriend or married..." Her voice trailed off as he stared at her and she watched his eyes and a soft smile spread on his lips.
    "What is it?" She asked softly.
    "Nothing...." He turned and began walking away from her.
    She stood there dumbfounded, not sure whether or not to go and stop him.
    She liked him kind of way deep down inside, but he also kind of creeped her out. How did he get in front of her so fast? Was he really a vampire?
    She had to find out, and fast! He was leaving away from her!
    She ran forward and yelled, "Stop!"
    Jacob paused in his steps and his head turned back towards hers.
    "Yeah?" He had a sad look stuck to his face. Eyes and all.
    "Please tell me, are you a vampire?"
    his face froze up and he turned his head away from me.
    "You've got blood on your cheek."
    She wiped her sleeve across her face and crossed all ten of her fingers together, pleading him to tell her.
    "Do you believe me now?"
    He grabbed both her shoulders and reached his head in quickly towards her neck. She froze up as his lips touched her neck, but nothing bit into her.
    Instead, his forehead rested upon her shoulder and wet streaks of what felt like water rolled down her arm. She stood there, not wanting to look down at him. Was it blood coming down her arm? Maybe he did bite down and she didn't feel anything. Suddenly, his back heaved up and down and she realized, he was crying. She had never seen a boy cry before and she felt so terrible...
    "It's okay..." She whispered, almost breaking into tears herself.
    Her arms came up and wrapped themselves around Jacob's neck.
    His head lifted from her shoulder and his cheek pressed against his.
    "I...I can't...hurt you."
    What was that supposed to mean? He wanted to hurt me, but he couldn't do it? Or he wasn't allowed to?
    "What do you mean Jacob?" She asked. His right hand played with the flesh on the left side of her neck.
    "I can't do it...." Why was he crying? It hurt my body to see him like this!
    "Please Jacob, why?"
    "I'm a vampire! What's so hard to understand about that? I can't hurt you because I lo..." he paused in the middle of his sentence. "Because I...Love you."
    Her heart pounded inside her chest. Had she met this man before?
    She hadn't been in school for almost three years now. He wouldn't have remembered her, would he? Maybe so...
    "Do I know you Jacob?" She asked him.
    "No, but I know you."
