Its been a week since i last worked. Ive spent a whole week wading through a mountain or empty bottles. When the wife left four years ago he took everything, the furniture, the tv, my favorite chair even the dog i had before we started dating. I guess she thought she earned it, i dont think i can blame her though. Melissa tried hard and im pretty sure i was the straw that broke her. I didnt realize she was serious that she meant it when she said she was leaving me because i loved my rifle more then i loved her. Just because i dont mind sleeping with my rifle in between me and her doesnt mean i didnt care. Who am i kidding, i never cared about her she was just there to please my needs and make my long dead parents happy. Truth is the only time i feel alive is when im calculating wind speed and bullet velocity as im making ready to send another man on to his maker. There was this one mission that i'll never forget though, I had crawled on my belly about two football fields length across a weeded field to a barn. A perfect line of sight to, ah man if i could relive any day in my life it would be this shot i tell you. I had set up and made my perimeter and decided to take a short nap as i wait for my mark. My target was known dirtbag..your typical bad guy but this one had the distinct advantage of having sold weapons to my enemy. It was about 1600 on a saturday night and it must of been pasta night. The target had a nice family, two beautiful young daughters, im not sure how old they were. One son that looked about 16 or 17 and his wife who looked gorgeous in this black satin dress. They all joined hands for a prayer before they ate. I figured id atleast give them that moment, all their heads bowed and eyes closed. I made my corrections, a huge smirk on my face. snapping the safety off abd laying in wait, the moment they opened their eyes and lifted their heads i pulled the trigger. The targets head exploded spraying all the targets memories and thoughts onto his family. The screams of the girls was plenty to cover the report of my rifle. what a glorious shot.
