The gun shots have faded!
Or so they want you to think.
Everything's okay now
so sit down have drink!

Wash away the sorrows
and the fear right out of your mind
as you watch the propaganda
that poisons all mankind.

Go off in your fancy cars
as people die all around.
Turning the music up loud enough
so you don't hear the sounds.

And when that bomb finally goes off
to end the final fight
you'll sit there in your comfy homes
pretending everything's alright

It has potential; yet, you don't really seem to understand how to handle imagery and metaphor particularly well just yet. If you read the Guide to the Art of Poetry sticky in the Original Poetry/Lyrics subforum of the Writers' Forum, it might help you develop a better understanding of the tools at your disposal, and sharpen your sense of how to use them most effectively.
