• I twist and turn in my sleep.
    Hearing someone cry and weep.

I wake to see a white figure next to my open window dressed in blue,
it’s a woman to be undyingly true.
Her dress sways gently in the breeze,
as my heart begins to fail and seize.

I ask her a question hoping for no reply, “Who are you?”
She looks up into my eyes to say, “Caroline…”
My heart beats faster realizing this is not a nightmare,
because I would have waken up by now.
But all I can think of is, “How?”

Caroline just watched me go into a fear and daze,
just keeping her eyes set to a gaze.
She opened her mouth about to speak,
but before she could I did a squeak.

She ignored that and went on to talk,
“You can see me,” as she got up and started to walk.

I thought in my head that’s a stupid question to ask.
But I answered back none the less, “Yes, I can see you and why are you in my bedroom,” I said with my face masked.

She started to smile with pure joy.
That smile made me feel like an innocent toy.
I smiled back no longer afraid,
but Caroline looked as if she felt strayed.

She sat beside me and began to talk yet again,
just like we were two best friends.
She told me something I couldn’t believe,
this made my chest huff and heave.

Caroline said, “Don’t be afraid. I won’t harm you.”
But all I could think of was, “Who knew?”
I opened my mouth and said what was on my mind, “So wait a second you are a ghost?”
She nodded and grinned as if to boast.

Then she told me that I must have the gift to see those who linger her after they’ve died.
But the only question I could think of is, “Why?”
Caroline told me that it was the reason why she was here too, “Unfinished business to take care of and all.”
And that I had to take care of them without any stall.

Caroline asked one more question, “What do you say, will you help us get into the light?”
I’d always been the silent type, keeping to myself and staying out of sight.
My brain swayed from reality to the twilight zone.
But an adventure wouldn’t hurt, so I shouldn’t moan.

I looked straight at Caroline and said with all my heart, “Sure, alright, let’s do it Caroline.”
She smiled and said, “Yes, that’s just fine.”

I asked her if she’d stay with me and help me out with my new gift.
I let her think it out and sift.
Caroline said with a smile, “Yes,” without thinking about again.
Before I knew it I was seeing ghost left in right, which would probably shake grown men.

    I’m entering a world I don’t understand at all,
but I’m not going to break or fall.
I’ll take my new life with Caroline by the hand,
and help every ghost I possibly can.
