The shadows of the moon hung in the sky
where the horizon met her night.
The doves hailed down their holy words
as ravens took their flight.
The mountains howled out their sorrowful sounds,
the trees, their mysteries.
The echoes were heard from the sacred ground
and reverberated from the trees.
Came into sight the lovely goddess
of twilight's most divine,
marvelous face raised to greet her hour,
hands clasped and intertwined.
Hair as gold and soft as silk
drifted around her face.
Though she placed her feet not on the ground,
she moved with subtle grace.
Throughout her land did she touch
every creature's eye,
leaving them but with one
and the other forever blind.
Upon mine eye she did reach
her paralyzing hand,
but I was not affect
as the others of the land.
Where unto every other
she forever gave them night,
unto mine eye she placed the gift
of neverending light.
A sea of sharpest blue,
a sky of darkest gray--
to my sight was added more
than one could ever say,
Now each child I have borne
has lived within this light.
The paths they chose were never set,
for freedom was their birthright.
Never pained, always changing,
these youths eternally grow
for they accept they are to learn,
and never are they to know.
As the Children of the Light
pass along their eyes,
so do they pass the message
of the ultimate divine.
One must accept the blue and gray
as both parts of the day;
and with each sun comes the shadow of the moon,
for balance is the way.
