-
The stillness of winter, lingers in my ear.
This is the quiet I love to hear.
It comes only but once a year.
This is the quiet I love my dear.
The silence of death, it creeps closer.
It's whispers and white noises, darker.
Filling my mind with lies and slander.
Hoping for a happy ever after.
The hush of the trees, swaying undone.
Shivering breeze, of a quiet wind, numb.
Wishing for an orange, saving sun.
Hoping not to use this frozen, painted gun.
The mute of battered ice, slaying my speech.
Freezing my lungs, making it hard to breathe.
Winter has me laying still, wanting me to leave.
Choking and gasping, begging for a reprieve.
The quiet of my screams.
