I see the school in the early morning,
In Florence so small where it is sitting,
You can smell the ocean and see the gulls,
But only see fir trees standing so tall.
Called Siuslaw High, where I now belong,
Being a senior, it won’t be that long,
Until I walk that aisle, and walk away,
With people that are going the same way.
I walk into school to see my close friend,
Milli, so fashionable but will lend
Her hand in help if she does have time to spare,
But disturb her tiger within, if you dare.
With her is Lily, so smart and yet so shy,
Has music in her heart that she plays by,
Playing her instrument, in her notes she’s so sure,
She is set on college, her mind still pure.
Then I see Joanne, with so many strange friends,
Who likes to hangout and live life, but she tends
To stay on her computer in her room,
But when she gets out, she’s sure to make a boom.
I go to class, that seems so difficult,
But with this teacher, class has no fault,
For he talks so much about things he knows,
With energy the class does flow.
Paul who likes to speak up when he should not,
In middle of class, I do learn a lot,
For he always has facts that he likes to share,
With everyone when the teacher doesn’t care.
There is poor Billy, seemingly so alone,
I do like his poetry that can chill your bones,
But he is so innocent and sweet,
Hugging many people without missing a beat.
Also in our group is Travis, the tall one,
He likes to tease us, but when he’s done,
He gives us a ride in his very old truck,
That won’t break down if we have any luck.
I also know a redneck named Kyle,
He has many bad things in his file,
For he likes to speak up and showoff
In front of the teachers, to the office he is off.
Unlike others is a teacher in my last class
Since he thinks its fun to teach, and he has
Pictures of comic books around his room,
He can sure make history class zoom.
I am the shy one, who talks very little,
So innocent am I that people think I’m brittle,
But alone my friends know how I can fly,
For when I get hyper time does go by.
In this journey we shall have one another,
To keep others company it won’t be a bother,
To travel this long journey so long,
For we will always hand out and sing many songs.
I dream of graduation that’s coming,
For it will feel like I am flying,
Into the real world, it will be hard,
But I can’t wait to leave this place, so feared.
I shall go to college, that is my dream,
Away from this place, I’m sure it will seem
That I will miss this place, where I did learn
Things that I will need in college, that I shall earn.

- That's a nice poem! So touching . . . It does seem sad at graduation time, doesn't it? 4/5
