Hidden Pain

It’s been about 9 hours since I got a message.

Over a day since I heard your voice or felt your arms around me.

Countless hours I’ve waited by the phone

Or wasted online to talk to you

Even now the tears fall from my eyes

Are you even thinking about me?

Are you feeling the same pain?

Or am I just important when I’m at your side,

In your arms?

And usually, when the tears begin to fall

The thoughts begin of when we’ll end

Sometimes I even wonder if I should tell you my pain

But then logic sets back in

The moment you see these tears

Or hear the pain in my voice

Your heart will shatter

And you’ll blame yourself for things you didn’t do

Hurting you would be an even worse pain to bear

So I cry these tears at night

And keep waiting for you

When I see you

You’ll only see my smile

Hear only my laugh

And never know the pain I hide from you.
