OUTSIDE THE BOX


“Quiet!”
the morning is early
imagine with patience
others, sufferers resting,
fears pinned to beds
pain and/or fever(s).
awakened with the yawning
new day's of caring,
spelled n u r s e s,
o r d e r l y, e t c e t e r a
employed by
the giving themselves
often if only in doses
to others not other;
the body (human)
licking wounds incurred
in the living conflict,
saving lives
and thinking outside
the hospital
to that higher life,
the form gladly signed;
to a peer's one
not yet speaking,
fathomed but not at all
phantom yet loved;
dangerously
like God.
