-
He placed mahogany in her eyes
For the diamond dew engulfed.
A drop let on his desert plain,
Rejoice.
With his soul, he slashed a dove
Upon her chest of thorns.
So why, she wonders solemnly,
does the bird still smile?
He caged her numbness with a frame-
His body or his mind, I think,
And took with him her sanity
Assassin, pouring grief.
His words signaled the smoke
But hopeful as she holds her air;
Stand still while wind plays tricks in mind, tonight
Breath will prevail.
