I dare you to prove me wrong
And her eyes’ complaint
Will have kill me strong
For I am no priest, I am Saint
I am, therefore I be a damn poet!
For that is me, you are not
Or maybe you truly are
And so the d’stance between us
Is not by far
Though would it be otherwise?
Godspeed, children of the Sun

Description:
"For I am no priest, I am Saint" means you have to be your best, and a Saint is higher than a priest.
"I am, therefore I be a damn poet!" is derived from phrases like, "I have calloused fingertips, therefore I am" (my bassist friend says that alot). It doesn't actually make sense unless a poet is saying it, and they think they were foreordained (before birth) to try to be a poet.
The final line and the title are directly related, and their connection ties the entire poem together. - Date: 11/30/2009
