• One fallen pedal,
    Just one of many,
The sacrifice of it's own stemmed body,

And the river collected it's velvety tear,
Took it down it's rapids, cradled it dear,
And soothed it's loss with foamy, drenched, kisses.

Carried it to a new shore, laying it gently,
Yet battered she was, onto the gravel of a new world.

Her color had dulled. But her hope anew.
Her love reborn to a new field in bloom.

    Above, the wind urged her,
Pushed her through the new mud,
And she panted with joy, and breathed in her new carrier.

    Much gentler, and unpredictable,
And in it she felt comfort.
In the warmth of the arms that mingled with the sun,
And that held her dying, veiny, frailty,

She stuck atop a large mangled tree,
Strung with moss and new life,
    And her browning color fit.

She swayed with the ancient giant's own leaflings,
    And before her last breath,
    She felt home at last.
