• Smiles and laughs,
    Bountiful food.

    Fluffy white potatoes,
    Cranberries, bright and red
    Everything's perfect
Just waiting for the main dish.

    Red, orange and yellow
    Litter the ground
    And dance in the air.

    Children gather
    To play games,
    Frolic in the fall,
Without a care in the world.

    Families together
    For a happy
    Thanksgiving dinner.

    A good night for all,
    A time to celebrate.

    We all, that is,
    Except for one.

    He was supposed to be
    The guest of honor.
He was the thing to celebrate
But I doubt if he is happy now.

    Stripped down to the skin
Laid out for everyone to see.

    Violated, his pride gone
No longer can he be himself.

    We say without him
    Dinner is nothing,
    But he wishes he
    Was never there.
    Thanksgiving dinner,

    How wonderful it was,
    For all except for
    The thanks giving turkey.
