Henrietta's notebook.
I shall post whatever I see fit to post, whether it be snippets of wisdom, self-authored stories, or just random tidbits of pointless information.
My story, fourth installment.
Henrietta stopped running. Every fiber in her body screamed at her to run, to move, to get away. But something was wrong. She didn't know what it was, but something was wrong. everything looked the same as it always had, but it didn't feel right. It was like the world was an elaborate painting, and she was just moving along the foreground.
She could still feel Them, unsurprisingly. It'd be too convenient for Them to disappear, just because things had become unusual. They were the most unusual thing around, so it would hardly make a difference.
Finally, she figured out what the problem was. The world. The entire world was the problem. She had been running, but she hadn't been moving. Even now, she was standing in the same spot she'd been in the night before. She recognized the trees, the rocks, the small puddle trickling across the path. It was all exactly the same. Puzzled, she tried to run again, but yet again, the world was still, unmoving beneath her feet.
Knowing it was pointless, she still tried. She could feel Them closing in on her. She could feel Their shadowy hands grasping for her, tearing at her shadow. She didn't dare look behind her, for fear They'd actually be there, but she still felt Their presence. It wouldn't be very long before They caught her.
The realization that the end was near brought a profound sense of relief to her. Now she could stop running. Now she could rest. Rest forever, and never have to worry again. She might even see the true sky. She slumped to the ground, leaning against a tall oak tree, and looked up at the dismal grey sky, as fat raindrops splattered on her face.

(Oh no! They are going to get her! We have to do something! Children, you have to believe! Clap your hands! If you clap loud enough, you might scare Them away! Oh, please clap your hands!)

Ohhh, I too can't wait to read more now that I have started this journey. I like how the chapters are a short length for easy reading and yet long enough to pack new events and thoughts into them. Odd how she had never been to teh same place twice, it was always new before and now to her it seems as if it is all the same. DeJaVu? Hard to determine in this water-drenched world.
*Clap clap clap* heart
