Slowly but surely, Henrietta's mind recoalesced with her body. She had a strange, disjointed feeling throughout her entirety, as if her nerves had all shut down. Carefully, she opened her eyes, and what she saw shocked her.
It was light! Not the artificial light of fluorescent bulbs or candles, but the sun! She stared up at it for a moment, awestruck. She could feel the warmth on her skin, and a sense came over her that she couldn't quite identify. Finally she was able to place her finger on it. Contentment. She wasn't quite happy, but she felt... good.
After enjoying her newfound feeling for a while longer, she tried to move. She was apparantly lying down, and tried to sit up. Only to have a crushing pain flash through her head,, almost blinding her. Her hands flew to her temple, and felt cloth wrapped around her skull, what felt like bandages.
Gingerly, she kept moving, and managed to get to a sitting position. Looking around, she was struck by the utter alienness of what she saw. It was someone's bedroom. There was the downy bed she sat on, light pastel wallpaper and soft carpeting. There were various stuffed animals and objects of the sort all over the room, burying the floor in a second carpet of plush. She looked around some more, and saw the window, the one that was letting in the blessed sunlight. And on the other side of the room, there was a door. It was slightly ajar, as if it had been closed as an afterthought.
She then looked down at herself, feeling out of place in this opulence. She couldn't quite withhold a small gasp when she saw herself. Her clothes had been taken, washed and sewn, and lay on a small stool next to her. She was wearing an elegant dress, something so dainty and exquisite it put the rest of the room to shame.
By now Henrietta knew that someone had obviously cared for her, had tended her wounds, and she wished to know who. Slowly, gently, she got to her feet, and shakily made her way to the door. The hallway looked dark and gloomy compared to the newfound gaiety of the room she was in, but realistically, she knew even it was brighter than the world she had been in before.

I shall post whatever I see fit to post, whether it be snippets of wisdom, self-authored stories, or just random tidbits of pointless information.
Twelfth installment of my story is now posted. All comments are duly noted, whatever their nature.
