Henrietta's heart raced as she could feel Them approaching, getting ever closer, inexorable like the passage of time. She looked down the cliffside once more, hoping against hope that some solution would miraculously appear, that would save her from this cruel fate.
But nothing did. The cliff's edge looked just the same as it had the last time she gazed at it, as cold and unmoving as any other piece of stone. She knew that she had to decide now, before the ability to decide would be taken from her. Either alternative was horrible, but she had to choose.
Her eyes flew open as she finally made a decision. She launched forward, leaving the grip of the Earth behind as her arms slapped wildly at the air, trying to grab at the nothingness that was all around her.
In the split second before she fell, she started to turn from her momentum. She could just barely see Them, as they stepped out of the woods. They didn't appear to be hurrying to catch her; no, they stood their calmly and watched as she slipped out of sight, behind the wall that was the cliff.
The air whipped around her, freezing the unspoken shriek that had stopped itself halfway up her throat. Her eyes teared as the wind smashed against her face, and she saw the water and jagged rocks below her, dashing up to meet her with terrible impact. Just seconds before she hit, she scrunched her eyes shut, not wanting to see the last instant.

Henrietta's notebook.
I shall post whatever I see fit to post, whether it be snippets of wisdom, self-authored stories, or just random tidbits of pointless information.
Twelfth installment of my story is now posted. All comments are duly noted, whatever their nature.
