I slightly moved, but pain prevented me from moving too much. "Uugh... how did I get here?" I asked.
"Some guy in a cloak brought you." Kitty shrugged.
"Guy in a.... " exclaim My memory suddenly kicked in and I shot up. gonk A bit too fast for my entire torso abruptly reminded me I had sustained injuries. I slouched, gripping my side, "Emi.... did you? Did she...?" surprised
Kitty looked down and turned her head. "I'm sorry, James, we did the best we could..." She softly said. sad
For a few minutes, we sat in silence. Finally, I had to ask her. "Where is she now?"
"On your desk." Kitty said, pointing to the desk next to the night stand.
I managed to force myself up and hobble over to it. Sure enough, that's where my little fairy was. All bandaged up and in a box makeshifted into a bed. I sat down in the chair as moisture filled my eyes. cry "I'm sorry, Emi." I whispered as I ran my finger over her hair. "I'm sorry.... that I couldn't keep...my promise." My hand rested beside her as I looked away trying to keep the tears from falling.
Suddenly, I felt something holding my hand. I looked over at it to find it was Emi hugging my thumb. "I knew you cared." She happily said. biggrin
My eyes widened and then released tears of joy. "Emi!" I cried happily as I gently picked her up and held her to my cheek, which she embraced and wiped my tears away. "Don't you ever scare me like that again."
"Okay okay." She giggled. "Kitty said it was the best way to find out if you really cared."
I glanced over to Kitty in time to see her walk out of the house. I decided I'd bother her later about this.
"You know..." Emi said as I set her back in her little bed. "I could sure go for some more cookies." smile
