The room is dark,
The candles lit,
She lies on the floor thinking,
"Is this it?"
She takes a black candle,
Pours the wax on her skin,
She knows for a fact,
It's growing within.
It came around once,
But she locked it away,
For fear that it might,
Consume her one day.
It ruined her life,
She can never go back,
She looks at the wound,
All swollen and black.
She tries to stand up,
Up off the blood stained floor,
But her legs give out beneath her,
She falls spilling candle wax once more.
She lets the flame flicker,
Studies the yellow and white,
Lets out a small breath,
Then the darkness defeats the light.
