• "It's not my fault"
    That well versed line
Folded, creased, pulled in and out of pockets
    for various situations--each as like
    and unlike the last
    Still suits my own dilemma
    However loosely
    After all, surely
    It can't be my fault--
I, who was an innocent skeptic
    of the unknown corridors
    of this universe

    How was I to predict
    or prevent, or persuade
the strangest of stories from pulling me
Like a charmed snake from its basket
    Into its slippery clutches?

Perhaps the worst part of realizing that
everything you heard of in movies,
books, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Is real,
    is not the situation itself
    It is purely, simply
    The fact that it is
    Real.

    So, in the end
I apologize for believing my eyes
    My senses, my fear
And I pull out, and smooth out
    That overused, tacky
    Cliche of a line--
    "It's not my fault"
