• Smoke wafting under the door.
My sleepy eyes open with alarm.
I cough as my feet touch the floor,
I need to get out, and fast.

I whip on a robe and run out the door,
a fire is blazing all around,
filling my ears with it's crackling sound,
as it greedily reaches out for more.

I crawl my way down the hall,
    and for help I call.
The fire turned and blocked my way,
    searing me were I lay.

I cried out in pain from the fiery kiss,
and was fleeing on my feet in a flash.
Straight through my window, I managed to prance,
before I remembered I lived on the twenty-eighth floor.
