• As the rain came down,
Old man winter, refused his crown,
So he could have it laid,
    Upon the Lily Maid

    The Lily maid,
    Was known to have said,
    She wished to deny,
    The crown upon her head

And the maid was to be seen,
Among the flowers and grasses green,
Not doing what was to be done,
Putting off work with each setting sun

    The maid's rule was brieg,
    Due to her greatest grief,
Of losing her heart to a man of fire,
    A terrible, terrible desire

    So the prince of summer
Placed the crown upon his head,
That the Lily Maid had shed,
For she was before and now dead

    And thus life weened,
    The grass became less green,
Then the Lily Maid with death so great,
Yet again was given to the hands of fate
