• A Twig snaps,
    Loud.
    It knows where

    Soft whispers,
    Messages unheared by man
    Reveal everything to it.

    Golden eyes
    Two miniature suns
Leap out of the swirling mist and blanketing darkness.

    Growls,
    Soft and low
    Give you chills,
    Make you fear.

    A grunt.
A lost fawn wanders, innocently, helplessly, loudly...
    Easy target.
    Creeping slowly closer,
    It's right behind.

    A howl,
    Menacing, cruel, merciless,
    And yet... lonely, calm, sweet.

    A thud.
    It's over
Blood spills on the forest floor.
The remaining bones are all that's left.

    The wolf has fed.
    All is done and said,
    For now...
