• Watch the world,
    It has burst into flames,
Humanity is left to feel it's pain.
So we take to the skies,
    The stars we reach,
    Closer to the sun,
    We feel its heat.
    We are Icarus,
    With wings on our feet.

    I fell into orbit,
    Five months gone,
    And the stars were further,
    Than I have ever known.
    I hit the atmosphere,
    I burned so bright,
Just to get closer to the earth,
    You fell asleep in tonight.

    Humanity immaculate,
    As the sun grows dim,
I realise that we are aliens,
    And we are alone,
    But I treasure that more,
    Than any poem I write,
About how I wish I could,
    Escape.
