• Unforgiving God

    And then the boy
    Drifts off to sleep
    Breathing heavily
    Face peaceful.

    A million prayers
    Drift down to Earth
    Not one cared for
    By this unforgiving God.

    The boy, the boy
    Face pale and cold
    His father’s prayers ignored
    His mother’s mocked.

    A handful of prayers
    Drift up to God
    Recognized and answered
    By this unforgiving Lord.

    This poor child
    Innocent and beautiful;
    Perfection manifest
    And sweet and kind.

    Those prayers answered
    By this prejudiced God
    Came from the richest,
    Most powerful kings.

    The mother weeps,
    The father cries,
    And everyone knows
That he was not meant to die.

    This god people worship
    And follow and beg
    May not be so kind
    And we where all led.

    The child was not guilty
    Of any large crime
    Yet the parents where cursed
    To grieve for their beloved.

Of course life is not fair!
    That’s what we’re always told.
    It makes us wonder
    What kind Earth was molded?

    Does the Lord mock us,
    Or laugh at our mistakes?
    How can I worship
    Someone like that…?

    They’re just questions,
    So don’t get worked up.
    Because in reality,
    Questions aren’t worth much.

    That little boy,
    So much like many,
    Died for nothing
    And caused so much suffering.

    And this God
    So unforgiving
    Ignores so much
    And gives not aplenty.

    This poem is for
    You people out there
    Shrouded in misery
    And illusions of despair.

    It’s for those people
Who think they have it rough
    When in actuality
    They hold so much.

    And for those people
    Who know what it means
    To loose something
    To some unforgiving cause.

    And also for the people
    Who secretly know
    What this poem
    Is really about.

    Those select few people
    Who find the secret meaning
    Who know it by heart
    And live it in life.

    And then the boy
    Drifts off to sleep
    Breathing nothing
    But that which is eternal.

    Thank you for reading.
