• In that cold, scary cave
    Where the Mothman lives
    It's hidden from day -
    All within is his.

    He's tall and has wings
    With feathers on his neck
    That are soft as dreams
    And darkened retrospect

He feasts on the souls of parted twins
    Who have forgotten all,
    Even lost kin
    Whose memories have shrunk small

He drinks the blood of martyrs
That destroyed their will to live
Right from the gate of life's starter
So all they can do is give

    But the Mothman was lone
    So he has a mission
From the moment the moon shone
    He made his tradition.

    He'd find his severed twins
    And his silly givers
    Disregard all sin
    And take light's dainty shiver

    And the Mothman rose
    To fly in the night
    Along Anemoi's blows
    And resign in morning light

    And for dark and dark
    The Mothman flew
    Hiding with bark
    From days brilliant blue

    And one sad nox
The Mothman looked to the sky
And noticed the face that mocks
Each night then leaves to die.

    He found his friend
    He found his love
    The Mothman's journey ends
    With the goddess from above

    'Dear Selene'
    He said
    'Be the Mothman's Queen
Until you once again return to dead.'

    Selene agreed
    And was his Queen
    The Mothman did his deed
    And Queen loved her King...

    Until she died once again.
She returned the next day with a different face.
The Mothman did not know when
A new girl took her place

    And he wept and cried
    And screamed out loud
    Until the Mothman too died
And the moon was too sad to call out.
