Birds.
The first thing that came to mind when you opened my eyes.
The soaring sensation, the wind of change, everything I've ever wanted [but couldn't have].
It leaves the most sickening sensation, now that you mention it.
Chaotic, frantic, no one ever said my insides would coil this fast.
No one ever explained to me the price of payment, equivalent exchange, bathed in the body of wordly things.
Liquid money,
as opposed to what?
Dirty Laundry.
The self-titled exclamation.
I never asked for that much.
I never really asked for anything at all.
What do you expect, my little firefly?
Trapped in your rustic jar, ears and eyes sealed tight to the world?
What did you expect, when I cracked the cage?
What did I expect, when you cracked my cage?
I should've seen it coming.
I heard it, but I didn't react. My reflexes. Dull and ignorant. My sense, numb and decayed.
Birds can most certainly fly, you said.
I believed that much.
"But why fly when your wings have all rusted away?"
The part the got me the most.
I hate to say it, firefly.
The most intimidating thing, I've ever come to know...
Is a ghost with a promise.
A snapped neck.
You; minus cage.
