In our great forest did I reside,
Where in our city our Queen did preside,
While outside our nation, a Dark One ruled,
All of his subjects whom he had fooled.
In the past there were Guardians who had fought
against any evil, oppressive, or sinister thought,
but the Dark One had mercilessly destroyed them all,
and in the land did happen a great fall.
My people and I had repelled his evil might,
but over time, some lost hope in the fight.
Then, out of the blue, a mysterious pair came,
they were like the Guardians, but not quite the same,
their cause was stronger, their courage was great,
and we thought that they could alter our doomed fate.
The Dark One was stronger, but our hope did not tire,
and to show our support, we gave them the blade Fire.
We trained them, and soon they beat back
the Dark One's forces, at any attack.
The Dark One has not been killed, but I know
that someday at the pair's feet all evil will bow,
and no matter what challenges the pair may face,
they will beat them all, whatever the race.
- Title: A Duo of Hope
- Artist: Eretico
- Description: This poem is based on the Eragon series, in the point of view of an elf who lived in Ellesmera during the time of Eragon's arrival in Ellesmera. For easier understanding, in the poem, "The Dark One" is Galbatorix, "our Queen" is Queen Islanzadi, the "mysterious pair" is Eragon and Saphira,"the Guardians" are the riders, and "the blade fire" is the sword named Brisingr ("fire" in the ancient language) which the elf blacksmith Rhunon gave Eragon during his second visit in Ellesmera.
